Laurie was raised in Boylston, Massachusetts and studied geology at
Amherst College and hydrology at the University of Arizona. She was
passionate about life and enjoyed working and playing in the outdoors.
Laurie had a particular passion for the Verde River in Arizona. She
completed a 10 year published federal report just a few months ago in
support of the health of that river. Laurie shared her expertise in
hydrology with the Friends of Wissatinnewag as part of the research done
on the protection of the 10 acres of the White Ash Swamp. Her
contribution was essential in helping public officials understand the
connection the 10 acres has with the watershed of the Connecticut River.
We honor her intelligence, commitment, and appreciation of our natural
world, and her dedication to making a difference. The example she has
set for all of us will not be forgotten, and our prayers go with her as
she moves on to the realm of the spirits.
Those wishing to send flowers, or to make a donation, might consider
contributing in Laurie's name to the Nature Conservancy, 1510 E. Fort
Lowell, Tucson, Arizona, 85719.
